How long was you off work/school......
I know it is a long way away, but I am in college and I was wondering how long after surgery can I expect to go back??? Is it a quick recovery?I am planning on RNY(I Think) I was wondering if it something I can go back to school at 1 week with or do I need to wait the 2-3 week break of school... Any suggestions are great...
FYI the breaks at school are the 1st of march and that is the 1 week and middle of may is the 2-3 week break(but for this I dont have daycare and cant afford to send them)... Just was thinking ahead... Thanks!!!
It's really depends on how your surgery goes... I was lucky with mine and i was able to go back to work from home after a week and then went back towork the second week. It all depends on how long you're on pain meds and how things go for you. I have noticed that those of us that are younger do recover quicker... So that's a plus... I would anticipate at least 2 weeks though unlessyou're going to have someone drop you off at your classes and there's not a lot of walking and carrying books and such
Depends on if you have open or lap. I had open and went back to work in 5 weeks, I could have gone back sooner, i didnt feel too bad but i have an active job so my dr wanted me to stay off at least 5 weeks, with lap its much sooner and if you have a desk job or a job that isnt too physical you dont have to be off long at all.
Good Luck

Dr Gupta told me that I could pretty much do anything I wanted when I felt like it except for lifting. She said I couldnt lift for at least 3-4 wks. That is a lot of my job too, but I plan on going back anyway and just doing office work or maybe going on some of the ambulance calls but just driving and not lifting.
